MEET THE ARTISTS…

James Lloyd

James Lloyd is a Vancouver cartoonist best known as the regular artist on the Futurama Comics title, for which he providing pencils for the series debut issue until its final publication in 2018. During that time he provided the art for the best selling Simpsons/Futurama Crossover Crisis series, which remains a bestseller in print from Abrams Books today. He has since contributed to comic projects for First Second books, Boom! Comics (Adventure Time Comics), Oni Press (Rick and Morty comics) and remains true to his small-press roots with several new self-published releases. He currently focuses his creative lens on the shifting landscape of Vancouver life, telling the stories of his neighbours in comic form. He has worked in Vancouver’s animation industry since the mid-90’s, returning recently on the revamped Rocky & Bullwinkle series, and as background supervisor on the Canadian production Summer Memories. James has also explored the realms of comics education and played a key role in forming Langara College’s Graphic Novel and Comix program, where he instructed both World Building and Comics History courses. He has held presentations, workshops & mentorship programs throughout his twenty years plus of drawing professionally. He hopes you like comics as much as he does.


Robin Thompson

Robin Thompson (Robin T.Illustration) is an independent comic book illustrator, commercial artist, and art instructor. His freelancing experience includes storyboarding for film and television, graphic design, and interior mural work for seasonal attractions (Cougar Creek's House of Horrors). He has developed and instructed artistic programs for Emily Carr University and Design, Langara College, and several community centres throughout Vancouver. Attending artistic exhibitions throughout the mainland annually, Robin brings his unique brand exclusively to each event with original "pocket art", art prints, comic book sketch covers, and his world famous mystery bags. Victoria, who goes by Rukariia on social media is a digital artist based in North Vancouver, BC who loves to draw her favourite video game and anime characters.  Notable series includes Pokemon, Studio Ghibli and OneShot.  At times, she likes to get extra creative with her artworks, like doing a crossover or putting the characters in different outfits.  From those digital artworks, she creates merchandise such as keychains, stickers, prints, lanyards, and epoxy pins.

Keith Durocher

Keith Durocher is an author, musician, gamer, and tattoo artist from Vancouver, BC, Canada.

He has been tattooing professionally since 2007, and has been the owner/operator of several studios. PennyBlack Tattoo, Vampire Tattoo, Pink Flamingos Tattoo, and now Dominion Tattoo. As a musician, he has been active in the industrial and metal scenes since the early 1990’s, fronting such bands as Seventh Image, Malhavoc, Codex: Factoria, and The Blade Itself. He started his writing career doing critical journalism for music and the gaming industry, doing reviews and interviews for such website and print zines as Starvox, Adrenaline Vault, WorthPlaying.com, and ABORTmag. Bones Before Fortune is his first foray into the splatterpunk/grimdark realms of fantasy fiction.

Senzupen

 Greetings! I am an illustrator based out of Vancouver, British Columbia. I currently specialize between fanart and original pieces, drawing inspiration from an avid interest for all things film, media and comics. I have had the privilege in collaborating upon a variety of projects throughout my creative journey and am incredibly excited for the opportunity in showcasing a selection of recent works at this upcoming event. Super honoured to be a part of WCCC 2025! Looking forward to meeting you. 



Aida/Yuyu

Aida/Yuyu is a Mexican artist based in Vancouver with a background in Design for Marketing and Animation. Though the illustrations featured by her store, La Poyoshop, are colorful pieces based on Mexican Folk art, Yuyu is a fan of Dark Fantasy classics such as Conan, Elric of Melnibone and Berserk. She is currently working on her own S&S comic.

John Ward

John Ward is a Vancouver-based writer, filmmaker, and podcaster. His recent comic book credits include The Memory Machine, Scratcher, Acausal, and Offbeats, and his horror books include Three Tokens for Mammon, Sweet Delicious Candy, and Born Again. He’s the creator of the 49 Degrees North Writers Podcast, and was previously a theoretical physicist and guitarist in numerous punk/thrash bands.

Sam Brady

I'm Sam. I have 9 years of experience as an artist in animated film and TV. I've worked mostly as a character and prop designer on things like Go, Dog! Go., Cocomelon and Across the Spider-Verse. Outside of my work as a designer one of my biggest passions is tabletop gaming! If it's DND related I'm in. In my art you will see all this reflected with bright colours and fun designs.

Alastair Zhang

Saiyūn! My name is Alastair, otherwise known as Eidu in Manchu. I am a Chinese-Manchu artist and story writer based in Vancouver, Canada. I hold particular interest in gothic and psychological horror, occasionally including aspects of my culture or that of my ethnic neighbours. I am pleased to be exhibiting at WCC 2025 - see you all there!

Victoria Webster

Victoria is a fantasy watercolour illustrator as well as a maker /crafter of other things! She paints and creates magical beasts, scenes and characters. Many of her paintings come from memories, reoccurring dreams and just her love of fairytales and lore and the mythical!

Mauricio Pommella

Mauricio Pommella is a visual artist with over 20 years of experience focusing primarily on communication and ideas. His works include art direction, graphic design, and illustration for digital and print use. Currently, he works for a digital product studio by day and creates his independent comic projects by night. As a sci-fi and technology aficionado, his stories explore human conflicts, relationships and philosophical problems wrapped into futuristic worlds. He lives in Vancouver, Canada with his wife and two daughters. 


Jesse Staub

KiriOxel is run by Jesse, also known as Lark online, and located in Victoria BC. They enjoy creating work unique to their style and often get inspiration from their favourite series and silly things. They make items ranging from stickers, prints, keychains and charms, to lanyards and magnets. Currently their life is taken over by series like Dragon Age, Bloodborne, and Warframe. They're happy to be a part of WCCC this year and hope for a good time!


Lucas Green

Lucas is an animator and illustrator based in Vancouver, BC. He is the co-creator of the webcomic The Constant Star, and illustrator of the award-winning graphic novel King Warrior. His children’s books include Tom in a Teacup and the recently-published The Last Tree. His design work in film and TV includes the SyFy series Vagrant Queen and Astrid and Lilly Save the World, as well as the Tubi Original series Z-Suite and features Slay, Invasive, Invasive II: Getaway, Takeout, and R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead. Lucas currently teaches animation at Emily Carr University of Art + Design in Vancouver.


Steven Scott

Steven Scott is the Eisner award-winning co-author of the New York Times bestselling graphic memoir THEY CALLED US ENEMY, about the childhood internment of George Takei. His latest work with Takei is IT RHYMES WITH TAKEI, which tells George's coming out story. In addition, Scott has written graphic novels for Capstone, including SIXTH-GRADE SHAPE-SHIFTER and THE MAGIC HISTORY BOOK, plus CAT NINJA, TIME BUDDIES, and more comics for Epic! Originals where he served as a staff writer. He is also the cartoonist of his own comic strip memoir, G'DAY YANK. Having grown up a military brat, he has lived all over the U.S., spent his youth in Australia, and currently resides in Canada. 

Alpha Yu

Alpha Yu is a Vancouver-based illustrator of graphic novels and BG painter for indie animation. Drawing from his deep love of anime, he writes and draws personal stories with a focus on asian identity, the struggles of artists, and people who wish their home had a little more colour.  He also sells art at festivals, markets, and even malls under the alias of Shoba. Alpha is the former illustrator of Nakano Takeko The Last Onna Musha, a biographic comic about the life and times of female samurai Takeko Nakano with writer Sumiko Nakano, published by Rebel Goose books. Past work includes doing background painting for an animated commercial produced by Simon Fraser University and self publishing his grad thesis graphic novel, A Canadian's Guide to Making Manga. He believes that under every roof in Vancouver is someone with a story to tell, and he'd love to tell yours!

Valerie Anne

"Squirrel Sprout Illustrations creates happy and silly digital art! Founded by Valerie Anne, a Type 1 Diabetic Neurospicy She/They self-taught illustrator, it offers cute and silly designs from memes to original pieces and fanart, and is inclusive at its core. From prints to keychains, these pieces will brighten up your day in the celebration of positivity and creativity."

Konn Lavery

Konn Lavery is a local Vancouver author whose dark fantasy and horror novels has been recognized by Edmonton’s top five bestseller charts and by reviewers such as Readers’ Favourite, and The Wishing Shelf Awards. His work has been described as uncanny and immersive. Each of his stories are housed within the expanding universe known as the Macrocosm spanning across time and space. He balances his literary work along with his own graphic design and website development business. His visual communication skills have been transcribed into the formatting and artwork found within his publications supporting his fascination of transmedia storytelling.

Jordan Bray

Jordan Bray is the mind and artist behind The Drift, a silent graphic novel published through Wharfinger's Press. Born in Vancouver, Jordan grew up in the sodden embrace of the Pacific Northwest. From damp beginnings, he's cultivated a career in art and design. His younger self once wished that he could make a living out of drawing monsters and spaceships, now he's simply attempting to slake that blood lust of his past self. He's been described as 'too tall' (context not withstanding) and at the time writing this bio, he's suffering from profound razor burn. He may already be dead. The Drift is his first official publication, which reached its funding goal on Kickstarter within 76 hours earlier this year."
